Additional Information

At NIH, patients with all forms of Gaucher disease are evaluated to better understand the disorder and disease progression. Patients must provide informed consent for participation in an ongoing research study. Clinical and research samples are collected and may be stored for future use. Invited participants have thorough examinations and testing performed at no cost. Research areas include the link between Gaucher disease and Parkinson disease both in Gaucher and Parkinson patients and carriers as well as neuronopathic Gaucher Disease and its natural history. While physicians at this Center are Gaucher specialists, ongoing treatment of patients is only provided to those participating in their research studies and coordination with outside care providers is necessary.
