NGF co-founder and Clinical Director of the NGF Global Diagnostic and Treatment Initiative Dr. Robin Ely recently participated in two events hosted by Sanofi, talking to over 100 physicians in Turkey and the Sanofi in-house team of medical staff, sales representatives, and client support teams.
During these chats, Dr. Ely gave her personal history as both a physician and mother of the first person in the world to receive Ceredase, the original ERT, which was laboriously extracted, refined and modified. She explained her involvement in the trials, dose methodologies, and FDA and Israeli Ministry of Health approvals.
She discussed the formation of the National Gaucher Foundation, and her experience as a mother of 3 (out of 6) children with Gaucher disease.
The goal at both events was to give people a historical perspective, a message of resilience and commitment in the face of monumental challenges and inspiration – for doctors to see their patients as a whole individual, and for the Sanofi team to be inspired in their work, knowing that what they do has incredible impacts on the lives of so many.
