Mother Shares Her Son's Successes

My son, Jeffery has Gaucher Disease. He was diagnosed at 15 months old. That was the scariest time for us. My daughter is free of the disease. Jeffery is small for his age. He gets treatment at home twice a month. He is a strong boy who will be 16 next month. He always wanted to play football, but there was just no way he could. He just wanted to be a part of a team.

Now he is a freshman in high school and he is in an agricultural class and he has a goat that he will show at the stock show in March. He is so proud and now he is part of a group at school. We act as if he is just as normal as any one else, if not more so.

Thanks to the National Gaucher Care Foundation and its CARE and CARE+PLUS Program for all of the help they gave Jeffrey. He had it hard in the beginning, but has come through like a champ.
