7:00 PM

Ken Lipkowitz is a retired physician who resides in Tom River, New Jersey. Ken has always had a great love of music and has played the piano since childhood. He has volunteered to perform at many events over the years and would like to share his music with you.

Ken has devoted recent efforts to research and a cure for Gaucher disease. Gaucher (pronounced Go-Shay), is an enzyme deficiency in which the body is missing one key enzyme that is responsible for breaking down fatty substances within the cell. The disease is genetic and present at birth, however, symptoms can appear at any time from infancy to adulthood. The disease is debilitating and sometimes fatal.

Gaucher disease can cause: Osteoporosis, bone pain and easily broken and fractured bones, bruising, bleeding, nose bleeds, swollen abdomen due to an enlarged liver and/or spleen, chronic fatigue, anemia and low platelet count.

One of the primary modalities of treatment is the intravenous administration of enzyme replacement therapy. For further information please visit the national Gaucher Foundation website www.gaucherdisease.org

We hope you will join us to help raise awareness of Gaucher disease and enjoy the melodic sounds of Ken's music.
